DRFortress Data Center Safeguards Against COVID-19

We want to assure you that DRFortress is taking steps to safeguard the continued operations of our facility, the largest carrier-neutral data center in Hawaii, in the wake of heightened concerns about the spread of the COVID-19 (Coronavirus).

Our number one priority is the safety of our customers and staff while continuing to provide uninterrupted mission-critical technology to support emergency communications to Hawaii and the Pacific.

We are taking immediate and appropriate precautions to keep our employees and customers safe onsite, including:

  • Disinfecting high-touch areas.
  • Installing alcohol-based hand sanitizing stations at the data center entrance.
  • Placing waste baskets next to restroom doors so that individuals can use paper towels to open doors and then dispose of them properly.
  • Following the recommendations of the CDC and local public health authorities.
  • Advising sick employees to stay home, reducing travel and enforcing quarantines as appropriate.
  • Utilization of disposable utensils, plates and cups.
  • Activated our Crisis Management team to provide internal monitoring and response team and ensuring Facilities, Operations, Security, IT and HR continue to monitor and prepare our site and teams to respond to changes within our environments.
  • Working with 3rd party vendors to confirm that they have properly prepared and have taken all necessary actions to ensure uninterrupted services.

DRFortress does request that you please refrain from coming to the facility if you are experiencing a fever, cold or flu-like respiratory symptoms.

Should COVID-19 reach pandemic levels in the state, DRFortress will enact its Pandemic Protocols, some of which may affect our clients, such as:

  • Temperature (no fever) scans as a prerequisite to entry.
  • Implementing call-ahead appointments prior to utilizing kiosks or any non-emergency services.
  • Re-configuration of certain HVAC equipment.
  • Effectuating work-shift and remote work plans.

Please remain assured that DRFortress’ systems are designed to continue to provide services automatically without human intervention although ingress may be affected. In addition, all back-office operational areas and customer meeting rooms and kiosks are serviced by DRFortress’ redundant power systems. Physical/IT Security and backups also remain in place and ready to be implemented if needed.

As part of our data center readiness to be prepared for unusual situations, DRFortress is closely monitoring the rapidly developing events globally and the impact, if any, they could have on the island. We will take appropriate action as needed and continue to keep our customers informed on any significant changes to these procedures.
